Each of our projects has a volunteering element either as part of the core activity or through work with partners. We view volunteering as a key route through which people can gain new skills, increase their cultural capital and gain vital experience.
Accentuate has had a number of volunteering successes so far. The inaugural Disabled British Open Golf event provided over 120 volunteering opportunities, and a substantial proportion of these volunteers gained an NVQ qualification as a result.
From our launch date on 3rd December 2009 we will be driving forward our volunteering plans and this website will be a key communication hub for communicating our work in this area.
Accentuate is making links with partners from the business, education, skills and community sectors to develop a volunteering plan that will deliver against our target of over £150,000 contributed to the local economy through volunteering. We are a vital part of the regional strategic approach to maximising the volunteering opportunities arising as a result of the London 2012 Olypmic and Paralympic Games, and we are working closely with our partners at SEEDA and LOCOG to ensure a joined up approach.
We are always interested to speak to interested partners about volunteering opportunities. Contact the Accentuate team to find out how you could get involved.
