Future Creative is delivering the uScreen Champions programme in partnership with Resource Productions, on behalf of Screen South.
Set up and run by Screen South, uScreen is a cutting edge filmmaking website for young people aged 14-25, and is fully accessible to disabled young people.
This programme aims to promote uScreen in the South East to young people and those who work with them. We are training facilitators to tutor a number of young people in each area of the region as ‘uScreen Champions’ who will advocate use of the site to their peers. A bursary scheme will also support groups and individuals making films for entry into the uScreen 2012 competition.
The uScreen programme is still in its early stages, and most of the sessions have yet to take place. Booking is now open for the following workshops:
Upon completion of the programme, use of the uScreen site is expected to continue and increase through a peer learning process, headed up by the uScreen champions trained at the above workshops.
At the Train the Trainers day at the British Film Institute, we demonstrated the site’s potential to a group of filmmakers, teachers and creative practitioners. The following feedback was received:
“Fantastic free online software that I will be using immediately with a group of young people”
Cathi, creative practitioner
“The ‘train the trainer’ day was excellent, we will be using the site with our disability youth projects… and would really like to become U-screen facilitators. We are just about to start work with our local academy, one of the biggest in the country and I'm sure they would love to become U-screen champions.”
